I have just enjoyed, a nice few pints of tribute, at my local over the last couple of days. It has been a guest Ale, problem is only 1 Barrel.

The Bad news its nearly gone, the good news, the landlady has ordered another Barrel!

I know its not beer - or cricket probably, but I've got a bottle of white wine with Boscastle on the label - it's probably vinegar by now as I've had it since the engine first returned to traffic at the GCR - 20 years ago. Anyone know how Boscastle's going/not going?

That's a bargain, but it does make me wonder whether those bottles were approaching the end of their shelf life. Suspect

It really annoys me that greedy brewers, including Sheps are charging their tenants extortionate rates and that you end up paying around £2.80 a pint for Spitfire, but you can get it for at least a pound less at 'Spoons! Shocked

Pubicans are having a hard enough time as it is. Why is Spitfire in a Faversham pub the same price as in one on their tied houses in London or Essex - you can't put that down to delivery charges - it's damn' well brewed there!! Mad Mad

Rant over! Rolling Eyes

I'm not sure what the situation is now but at one time Sheps were one of the most strident voices against booze day trips to the continent (I suppose they were the hardest hit being so close to the channel ports) but you could go into a booze warehouse in Calais and find Sheps by the pallet load.

My favourite is and always will be "Spitfire"

[quote]

I went to the unveiling of the Sir Keith Park statue on the fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square. The RAF gave us all a "Goodie Bag" which included a bottle opener from Shepherd Neame. When used it made the sound of a Spitfire passing overhead! I drove my missus mad by saying I was "just off to scramble a squadron" every time I opended a bottle of Spitfire with it.......
