Real Ales & Home Made Brews!
Because Admin, has twisted my arm. Here is a thread on Real Ales, and Home made Brews.
My favourite real ale is tribute, from the St Austell brewery. A real nice nutty flavour. Im very keen now in sampling real ale at festivals, especially now that I havent work to worry about. Another real ale I like is Tallyho, similar to tribute.
I am going to restart brewing my own again, which I did in the late 70s, and early 80s. The trouble is it goes so quick, and the Crisps/Nuts go just as quick.
Are you into real ales, or brewing your own?

I don't have to twist you're arm!!
You do a fantastic job of that yourself! I know how much you like you're tribute!!
My favourite is and always will be "Spitfire"
If you're going to be brewing you're own - You might end up having more guests than you can handle!

My rates are pretty steep, due to deflation.

All hours I hope!!!
So what other Ales do people enjoy a tipple of?
I'll list mine!
Spitfire
Pullman
Speckled Hen
And as you can see from this website Spitfire stands out on top! http://www.shepherdneame.co.uk/index.html?shopsession=b79b0770eb3af50898576d7207996bda

Well, Admin, I see you have a Bulleid Beer at the top of your list. In the same vein, I would to add the following two offerings from the Cottage Brewing Company:-Admin wrote:So what other Ales do people enjoy a tipple of?

Pullman
Speckled Hen
"Golden Arrow" (4.5%). The pumpclip features an un-rebuilt in Southern Livery and the regalia.
"Merchant Navy" (4.7%) with an illustration of rebuilt MN 35014 on the 'clip.
"Jaipur" from the Thornbridge Brewery is a fantastic golden coloured ale - but beware! At 5.9%, an overindulgence can lead to you tearing a page out of your diary!
I've never had a bad beer from the Dark Star brewery either, and had a couple of pints of their excellent "Summer Meltdown" (4.8%) by way of Stress Management Therapy after work yesterday!
Roll on August 4th - I've got a ticket for the Trade Session at the GBBF at Earls Court!

Re: Real Ales & Home Made Brews!
Is there a beer called "Bulleid" then? 34017 Ilfracombe has "Manston" ale.
We tried "34059 Sir Archibald Sinclair" at the Bluebell. That was a very good point! Went down very well. But i'm intrigued to try this "Bulleid" Ale?

Re: Real Ales & Home Made Brews!
I'm not quite sure, but I think it might possibly Shepherd Neame? Maybe 34017 Ilfracombe can help you out on this one?!
Re: Real Ales & Home Made Brews!
I know Sheps have set up their own micro brewery within the main brewery complex at Faversham, but I would have thought it more likely to have been one of the local independent brewers - there are three at Horsham alone:-Admin wrote:I'm not quite sure, but I think it might possibly Shepherd Neame? Hepworth & Co.,
W.J.King & Co.,
Weltons.
After all, the K&ESR source their bottled ales from the Rother Valley Brewing Co at Northiam.

Re: Real Ales & Home Made Brews!
I'm pretty sure the Ales at the Bluebell such as "34059 Sir Archibald Sinclair" comes from Lewes?
Although Hepworth & Co sounds very familiar...

Re: Real Ales & Home Made Brews!
I like Pullman - Saw it in Tescos the other day and for £1.91 a bottle in there and being that Tescos don't make a huge amount on Alcohol, I get the feeling the Brewery are making a killing!
34017 Ilfracombe! Get you're brewery up and running! I'll be you're manager! I'll try not to drink the profits!
The Beer Station - I think that is absolutly brilliant!!

It is for us as the wife gets discount on everything each time we shop!
Re: Real Ales & Home Made Brews!
I've not tried it myself, and the local Tesco is out of town. I'll have to keep an eye open for it in my local supermarket.Admin wrote:I like Pullman - Saw it in Tescos the other day.
