35022 - Holland America Line

Any news on 35022?

I'd like to see this particular loco back in action one day, for perhaps an unusual reason - and am also suffering a conflict of interests! Firstly, my late mother being Dutch, my father first met her in the offices of Holland America Line in Rotterdam, where she worked as a secretary. So, sentimentality. But the conflict of interest? I've been a long-suffering Crystal Palace FC supporter, in a quiet way, since I was about 12; however, Jeremy Hoskings who apparently owns the collection of parts known as 35022, is also one of the three owners of CPFC. What should have priority? New players to keep us out of relegation trouble and have a shot at promotion, or 35022 back in steam?

It's a dilemma, no mistake.

Any good stories about this engine? I have an idea that it was one of the "good" ones. Is that true?

She is now up at Ian Riley's Workshops for Overhaul alongside 35009 and others. But all is quiet on this front.
I have heard a few good stories about this engine in recent years. Trouble is i was born after they were all withdrawn.

35022 will be restored in its own right after 35027 is up and running. It will be interesting to see just how much work needs to be done to 35027's boiler now that 35022's is going on Port Line!?
