On Tuesday the 28th of September at 16:50 Britannia moved under it's own steam for the first time since 1990. The loco was run / tested the following day before passing it's boiler examination / test on Thursday the 30th. There is still some outstanding work to complete including repainting the tender, cylinder covers and part of the running plate but mainline trials are likeley sometime in the next four weeks. Still can't get used to the black livery but it does suit the loco!

For those that are interested the air pump will be mounted tight back on the running plate behind the firemans side smoke deflector.

I can't imagine her in Black either.

The 1990 date came from the LNWR guy's at Crewe. I spent the last week at the Heritage Centre and was there to see her move (and sneak some pictures).

Thats fantastic - Do you have any pictures that you can post of her move? I understand her boiler was in pretty bad shape? And with the repairs should sound alot better?
