Let's not forget 34010 Sidmouth, which still survives though is some way from restoration. It's the oldest of SLL's five Bulleids, and last in the queue. The website shows its history:

http://www.southern-locomotives.co.uk/34010/34010_BR_Service.html and there is a photo library too:

http://southernlocomotivesltdphotogallery.fotopic.net/c1739549.html

Does anyone have any photos or remeniscences? The SLL websites has four logs from 1964: http://www.southern-locomotives.co.uk/Timings/34010_Timings.html and there's a 1960 one by Alan Taylor: http://locoperformance.tripod.com/edition16/34010bnc.htm

Hi Nick,

I am trying to entice some people who may or may not have logged 34010's runs into this thread.

Hopefully updates soon...

Yes, it's an interesting log. Do you think the timer would permit a copy to be added to the others on the SLL website? http://www.southern-locomotives.co.uk/Timings/34010_Timings.html

Sidmouth won't reach the front of the restoration queue at Herston for about three years. See fourth para in attached link for summary: http://www.southern-locomotives.co.uk/34010/34010_Restoration.html

Has anything been done at all with Sidmouth as she seems to have sat still (Waiting in the wings as it were) since the update in 2006? Have the funds been raised for the boiler Nick and the wheels been kept in storage since being Grit-Blasted?

Understandably the focus has been on completing Sir Keith Park. The next Bulleid in line will be 257 Squadron, which is a significant project, though much less work than Sidmouth will be. It will be a while before Sidmouth reaches the front of the queue.

King Edward II may have been in the Daily Mail and The Sun recently, but this week Sidmouth had a whole page in the Sidmouth Herald:

Will this chimney as shown in this photograph be re-used (Welded & needle gunned of course) or will a new one be cast?

I don't know. I was in Herston earlier this week and I didn't notice it. I've put some more photos of SKP restoration on the Picasa gallery, starting here:

Oops! Just noticed you have already put a message about these photos!

Hi all,
There is an update on the SLL website for anyone with any ideas to get in contact with them as to get 34010 restored? It seems they are going to find it hard with time and money to get any necessary work done on her?
I have a couple of ideas; but would be interested to here of any forum members ideas?
Here is the link to the SLL website news page; http://www.southern-locomotives.co.uk/News/news.html
Many thanks
Andy

I'd be delighted to hear your ideas about how we could find a new source of funds. The point is that upcoming overhauls of the current fleet (257 Squadron, 80078, Eddystone are going to cost a six-figure sum each, whereas Sidmouth would probably cost seven figures to restore. So while we can make reasonable plans to do the overhauls it's hard to see where a spare million will suddenly appear from. Keep buying the lottery tickets, folks!

No such luck! One of our volunteers was in the vicinity and took a few photos of the frames.

As you'll probably know SLL started work on the restoration of 34010 Sidmouth at the end of 2015. Today we've launched a video to promote the project: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HsgmWZYlQfw&feature=youtu.be

There's also a page on the SLL website with more details:
