Hi all

My name is Pete, I'm a trucker by profession and have a keen interest in all things Southern railway, particularly Bulleid loco's.

Thanks for the greeting Andy. If anyone has questions I'll be glad to try and answer them but as in all things the loco's are a bit of a minefield at times. I've only just learned that some/all MN's had black name plates at some time.

Pete,

Just to wish you a happy Birthday tomorrow! Hope you have a good one!

Regarding Black Name plates this as I understand it was how they were in there early years in unrebuilt form.... I will try and find the link to this and post it once I find it - Maybe start a new thread asking about Black Name Plates?

Evidently it was decreed in 1952 that nameplates were to be painted black. This was changed back to red in 1959 but Eastleigh either missed it or ignored it as they were still turning them out in black in 1961. I know Eddystone had black nameplates at one stage.

Thanks for the birthday wishes Andy
