Why didn't all Bulleids have crests??
Hi all,
Why didn't all Bulleids have crests? Been thinking about it for a while now - Pretty sure that every place had a crest of some kind?
Thanks in advance.
Andy

Interesting point. I agree that all cities and most boroughs would have their own coat of arms. As for smaller villages, I imagine that they would have adopted the coat of arms of the Lord of the Manor or of the local Knight.
Yes Tor ( 34026 ) is a rocky geographical feature. It does not have a crest.
Tamar Valley ( 34024 is likewise a geographical feature, albeit it a valley, and does not have a crest.
Blackmoor/Blackmore Vale (34023 ) is another geographical feature, but it DOES hav a crest!
One totally confused BoB - with crest!!

Is this a genuine "typo" or was I subconciously thinking about Henry Anthony Vaughan Bulleid??34070 Manston wrote: but it DOES hav a crest!

All except the very last one - 34110 "66 Squadron", but don't ask me why.Admin wrote:So did all BoB's have Crests?

According to Derek Winkworth's book, "Bulleid's Pacifics", a number of locos did not have crests. I think this was because the places concerned did not have crests.

That makes sense, but it seems bizarre that Blackmoor/Blackmore Vale has a crest and Taw Valley does not. I wonder what made 34023 warrant a crest?

Re: Why didn't all Bulleids have crests??
So why didn't all Bulleids have crests, as you would think that being that they were named after Devon/Cornish towns that they would all have a coat of arms?
