34046 (Braunton) on the Mainline
I have just noticed that 34046 is pencilled in for her first mainline Tour on the 30th May. http://www.uksteam.info/tours/trs11.htm
Bishops Lydeard-Portsmouth Harbour [dbs]
34046: Bishops Lydeard-Bristol-Salisbury-Portsmouth Harbour and return
No times as of yet, but I can bet there will be a few photographers on this tour.

Re: 34046 (Braunton) on the Mainline
As some of you may or may not be aware; the trip with 34046 on the 30th May has now been cancelled. This is on the WSR website and is because of problems with the tender. News is here;
Re: 34046 (Braunton) on the Mainline
According to Pathfinder's site & UK steam the tour is running but with 70000

Re: 34046 (Braunton) on the Mainline
All seems to have gone quiet on 34046 and mainline tests etc....
I have just noticed that 34046 is booked alongside a tour with 34067 on 'The Atlantic Coast express' on the 4th & 6th of September 2011. Does anyone have any news to whether or not this is still going ahead? surely this is enough time to get the Tender sorted and for a mainline test run to happen? I can't find any dates of any planned movements on the Uksteam.info page??

Re: 34046 (Braunton) on the Mainline
I see that on UKsteam.info that the Pompey Pacific tour is back up again as working on Saturday 10th September. Does this mean that 34046 is ready to go mainline now or are they hoping that the loco will be ready with the issues previously with the tender?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Re: 34046 (Braunton) on the Mainline
Hi all, there is an update released on the WSR website which states the following:
"An update report from Locomotive 34046 Ltd
Humphrey Davies from Locomotive 34046 Ltd has kindly provided an update on progress. "The current problems preventing the running of the locomotive [SR 4-6-2 no 34046 Braunton] have been centered around snagging requirements as one might expect following major changes, and problems associated with the new tender. The locomotive will be completed shortly with air brake fitting, and once the OTMR & TPWS installations have been completed by contractors. Testing of these systems can progress when the tender is complete and coupled. The tender has had some major work requirements. The tender springs as supplied did not meet the specification and had to be returned to the supplier for correction at the suppliers expense. These are expected to be returned before the end of June. The brake cylinders supplied and installed were not fit for use and we have had to source replacements from India. By kind permission of the owner of Taw Valley we have been able to use two new spare cylinders from that loco which will be replaced when the cylinders on order from India arrive in approx six weeks time. With some items being re worked by West Somerset Restoration plus the efforts of the volunteers and staff at Minehead we anticipate the locomotive should be ready for the [WSR's] gold timetable. Air brake testing will still need to be carried out. Main line operations depend on a series of further commissioning tests being successful and we will keep you advised of progress."

Re: 34046 (Braunton) on the Mainline
Latest news on the WSR website states that 34046 is being rostered for service trains on the 27th July. Does anybody know if this is for testing purposes prior to its mainline test run? As of yet I cannot see that is has been pencilled in???
Re: 34046 (Braunton) on the Mainline
On Uksteam.info 34046 is showing as doing a mainline Tour on the Cathedrals Monday 23rd April 2012 from Rochester-Slough-Stratford and return. Is this the only time we will be seeing 34046 around Kent?
Also does anyone know what the latest is with 34046 being prepared for mainline use? Latest was she was having the main Driving wheel retyred and TPWS and OTMR fitted? Is this close to being completed yet?

Just had a look on UK steam info and it would seem that 34046 has been replaced by 60019 on this working. Anyone know why?

Re: 34046 (Braunton) on the Mainline
Apparently it is because she is still being fitted out for mainline use amongst the other work at Riley's busy workshop. Others have said that she should be in traffic by Mid August. It seems to be taking its time..... Surely 34046 hasn't had enough running in? I might take a punt and say that she will most certainly have an extension on her ticket? I can't remember the last time this loco was in steam?
Re: 34046 (Braunton) on the Mainline
Perhaps things will move on once 4472 is completed, but that's purely my own thought based on zero knowledge of the actual situation at Bury.

Sadly Braunton has now been replaced on the Steam Dreams Cambridge to Canterbury on the 19th by Clan Line... according to the Steam Dreams website anyway.

Re: 34046 (Braunton) on the Mainline
It appears 34046 has been scrubbed out for the LE move on the 17th March; with 34067 taking over. Does anyone know what is happening exactly and will we ever see 'Braunton' on the mainline??
Thanks
Andy
Thanks

Re: 34046 (Braunton) on the Mainline
It looks as though 34046 at long last has started her mainline test run....
