Black nameplates (Which Bulleids had them?)
Hi all
This question stems in part from a question posed on another forum. Someone asked whether or not 35019 French Lines CGT had black nameplates because he'd been told by an ex driver that the loco always had black nameplates and therefore the 4mm scale nameplates he'd bought were incorrect. I've seen video footage of a rebuilt 35019 with red plates but can anyone confirm that 35019 ran with black ones? particularly before rebuilding?
I have seen video footage of 34028 Eddystone with black plates and also 34066 Spitfire with red ones as opposed to the RAF blue ones on other Battle of Britain loco's.

I understand that 35005 (Canadian Pacific) carried Black Nameplates when she was painted Blue. 34101 'Hartland' carried black nameplates on her last ticket prior to major overhaul. And it appears as though 34059 (Sir Archibald Sinclair) is the latest to sport this looks. Apparently the loco had this when she was first rebuilt?

Very nice indeed, thanks for that. I seem to remember seeing Clan Line as 35017 Belgian Marine at Guildford one day and i seem to remember those nameplates were black too.

Yep you are certainly right. Here is a video I found;
I am pretty sure this was to celebrate something in particular...For the life of me I can't remember what it was though.......

Nice video, thanks. On about the 8 min 5o mark you can just see the van I was driving that day to the left of the train. I was delivering in Middleton road and stopped to ask someone what was going on so I hung around til the train had gone.
