Something got me thinking about how quickly a loco was put together in the 40's/50's??? Were items pre-made to make a complete engine? I saw some footage recently of a Great Western King Class being put together. Frames, wheelsets, boiler and Chimney showing in the footage.

Also how long did an overhaul take in the 60's?

Hope to hear some feedback and stories on this.
