34039 - Boscastle

34039 - Boscastle Empty 34039 - Boscastle

Hi all,

Looks from the 'Boscastle Locomotive Ltd' as though 34039 is coming on leaps and bounds and is on her way to completion in the very near future? It seems as though re-assembly is about to start; considering how many new parts have been machined for the loco. http://www.boscastleloco.co.uk/#/30th-apr-2010/4541285882

Does anyone know if the boiler is finished or is this ongoing?

Does anyone have any news on when she is expected to Steam?

Good news also that the G.C.R. boiler department feels confident enough to do the 34039's repairs in house.

Progress continues apace with the wheelsets now fully painted. Work will now turn to cleaning and polishing the crank pins and the journals.

I think that Boscastle has possibly been one of the major re-builds that I have seen and I hope things continue like this. Hasn't Taw Valley had a similar re-build (But not on this scale)?
Lets hope she is steamed in the not to distant future... Does anyone have a proposed date for the loco to be returned to steam?

The Taw Valley rebuild has been far more extensive than Boscastles including one cylinder, a new inner firebox, 60% of the outer firebox wrapper, replacement rear frames, all fitted bolts in the chassis / underframe replaced................The list goes on.
