Just seen that it looks as though BR Std 4 tank 80150 will be moving to the Mid Hants Railway in exchange for the former Bricklayers Arms turntable!

If that is true - Then that is fantastic news!!! The MHR have been after an 80000 tank for quite sometime!! I for one will be getting back down there before too long to volunteer again! Very Happy

Lets hope so, 80150 will be the perfect complement for Ivatt 41312.

41312 isn't going to be in the Overhaul queue as I understand yet? Although being complete she could be a very quick turn-around for overhaul!?

Still be nice to see them run the service between them though, can't get much more economic than those two!

41312 is/was probably the easiest loco to fire on the line! I know from experience that she was a dream!!

They are from what i've seen and I am pretty sure firemen on the MHR will have a good time once she is overhauled!
By all accounts, it seems as though 80150's Boiler and Throatplate are in good condition! Even after the years at Barry and being one of the last of the 10 remaining.

Thank god the loco has been stored under cover for the last few years in the former EWS Depot at Barry.

The bad news is the inner firebox has a large patch plate on one side and the wheels are not supposed to be too good this being some of the reasons that Llangollen chose 80072. Still if the MHR swapped it for the turntable they got a bargain!

So Firebox is life-expired and what is actually wrong with the wheels? Do they just need new tyres?

Don't think the firebox is life expired, it will probably just need a new patch fitting, don't forget that these are copper boxes! Nothing that Crewe won't be able to fix.

Re the wheels I am hoping they mean the tyres, no doubt everything will look far worse than it is considering how long 80150 was in Barry. All will become clear once the MHR get the loco and clean it up, once this is done everything can be properly inspected and tested i.e ultrasonically and with dye penetration etc.
