I remember the 4 CORs, with a certain amount of fondness.

I used to enjoy driving them, they had character. A good Westinghouse Brake, the 7 point. And they were reliable. You had to treat the Brakes with respect with a 12 Car, if you didnt then the train more than likely break away.

And the Motive Power Superintendant would not be happy. A Form 1 Job

You are absolutely right 34012 Launceston. about the training school. We learnt all the 1936 Stock, drove them under the Instructors eye, except the Nelsons. I remember Terry Smith saying to me when I learnt the "Juice", youve driven these before (BILs). I grinned....

I had good tuition from Pompey Men, many I knew very well, and had many goes whilst route learning.. I too, never broke away with one. We had a turn, return of pompey papers, 0656 Pompey Harbour - Wloo. And remember well nearing Bedhampton, I thought " Sh**", we stop here, so I gave her a good bit of Brake, and prayed. She dug her heels in, I thought, cant release, entered Bedhampton, and she stopped right on the Signal.. Good old 3124 + 3167 + 3158. My toes certainly curled that day.

Yes happy days, but we learnt our trade from the older Drivers

Is this a 4-COR end a possible contender for putting with the set? http://william.fotopic.net/p68069805.html

Certainly doesn't look in too bad condition and I have to say the NRM do a fine job with keeping the stock looking good.
