GWR Panniers
I recall seeing these on the Waterloo - Clapham ecs workings in the early 60's. I've read that they were not popular but haven't read why. What were the problems with them? Did they do any work other than the ecs?

Yes Johnc, dont I remember working on those machines. In all honesty, I havent a good word to say about them! For a start, the firehole door was level with the footplate floor.
And they couldnt compete with the M7s, which they replaced, with regards to the amount of hours on duties. I for one, have struggled back to Nine Elms, with sandy clinker, and struggling for steam LE

P Class, Terriers were like these with the firehole door being level with the footplate floor!! Must be an Old GWR trait as the Dukedog and many others down the Bluebell - With the Exception of 80151 and of course 34059... Major back-ache!!!
