A very sad picture Holland Afrika . A good loco shorn of her nameplates.
Well I have blown the picture up, and noticed Alan Newman talking to some enthusiasts. But too fuzzy to pick anyone else up.
Thank you for the picture. Happy days except that day, the end of steam as we knew it.

Yes a sad picture but a great send off to Southern steam that day with the excellent run down the bank and the speedy Southampton - Bournemouth. Don Benn has already told the tale of the special stop at Woking which was a real achievement. Mind you it has taken me 42 years to learn that his wife to be Judy was waiting at Waterloo and had to be paged!!! I never knew that!
It is difficult to make out the enthusiasts around the loco but I am pretty sure almost everyone was there!!!

How many Bulleids and what names were running this day with the chalk marks saying "The End - The Last One?"
Seen pictures of some others, but cannot quite remember?

I believe 35008, and 35028 were running as well.
Also I believe 34095 was active right up to the end. I believe she was active in the Weymouth area?

34095 turned up at Bournemouth in the afternoon of July 8th. It went over to the shed and I was very surprised to see it receiving attention from one of the fitters. Apparently it worked a train to Westbury later that evening.

Hello and Seasons Greetings from a new member!
I've just found this great forum having recently scanned some old negs from my teens when I was an MN fanatic, and '23 was my favourite!
Yes, I was on the 08.30, getting on at Winchester. Photo of her taking water at Winch. I've got more if anyone is interested.
Hope you like the photo, and can spot yourselves, or your old mates. I can only spot one old mate.
Cheers for now,
Phil
