Here is the information on how far apart you put Detonators, see the comparison between the MHR rules and BR rules?

As per Mid Hants Rule Book Section M.

3 Dets 20 yards apart 3/4 mile from train.
1 Det 1/2 mile from train.
1 Det 1/4 mile from train.

As per BR Rule Book (1961).

3 Dets 10 yards apart 3/4 mile from train.
1 Det 1/2 mile from train.
1 Det 1/4 mile from train.

How rules change..... 2006? Are the dets the same today as they were back in the good ole days of steam? And are they checked for their date on every turn?

So as per these rules, how many detonators would be placed on the track?

A company I once worked for hired a van which I had to pick up from the rental company. When I looked under the driver's seat I found a box of detonators. On going into the office to sign the rental form I asked who'd had it before us and they told me Balfour Beatty. I passed the detonators on to a friend who was a volunteer at a preserved railway. His name and the railway's are probably best left unsaid.

I was told as a kid that if you were stupid enough to hit a detonator with a hammer it'd take your hand and most of your arm off. I treated that box with utmost respect.
